26 people are going to our mission in Ecuador on July 14-21. 23 are from our church. The following week of July 21-27 a group of 25 made up of ten different churches will make their way down to the Chota Valley. We have several projects, one of which is a huge undertaking. We will build an addition to one of the school buildings that will consist of three rooms. One will be an air tight computer class, another will be offices for the principle, and the larger class will be a shop that will be used to teach trades such as electricity, plumbing, and wood work so they can maintain their village. The total cost of our project will be $12,400. The village and school, as per our agreement, have raised nearly $4,000. We are raising the additional $8,400. If you would like to contribute to building a school in the village of Pusir, please write your checks to BRIDGING CULTURES and dedicate it in worship or send to the church office. Any amount will help! The material to be purchased is listed below:
l 300 sacks of cement
l Machine to mix cement
l 3500 cement blocks.
l 80 G different sizes.
l PVC Pipes
l Electric material
l Roof material
l Paint materials
l Master builder for 3 weeks and food and lodging
l Transportation for all the material
l Fence for the goats and posts
Like Habitat for Humanity, we will have a Contractor (Master Builder) present one week before we arrive and two additional weeks while our groups are there to supervise our work. The second group will work on two projects to refurbish the nursery and build a playground in a common area for the kids. Some of the people will be available to complete the work we started.

What started out as a crafting group is now a Prayer Ministry. We started out thinking we would make prayer shawls, but now we are also making prayer squares to be sent to the military, pocket prayer squares, baby blankets, and chemo caps and scarves. As we crochet, knit, quilt, or weave, we pray for the person who will receive it and asks God to guide us to those in need.
Over the last month, we have had the youth pray over the items we have sent out. This Sunday, we will have our first dedication in worship, and we will ask the congregation to pray with us over gifts that have been made. Anyone is welcomed and encouraged to join us in this ministry! We meet on Sunday afternoons from 4-6.
Please pray that this ministry will continue to grow. If you know of someone who needs comfort and prayers, please let us know.

As a writer, I place great value on words and spend lots of time looking for just the right ones. “A word fitly spoken,” Proverbs says, “is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Yet, even the best vocabulary has its limits. Sometimes I feel the frustration of a child just learning to talk who can’t find the necessary words to express her ideas and feelings. Even more annoying, as I age, at times I know that I know the word I want to use but I’m unable to call it up in a timely fashion. It’s on the tip of my tongue! |

My cousin Julie (a third grader) and Aunt Tracey were offered an opportunity to travel and teach in China for 8 weeks. Julie was adopted from China and Aunt Tracey is a teacher in South Bend, Indiana and learned of this opportunity and they were in China within three weeks. Aunt Tracey is keeping us all updated on their adventures through a blog updated almost daily. While reading it, I am a little bit jealous hearing about all their adventures, and the culture they are learning about, and the tasks they have been given while there. |

This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, “I will give it to your descendants.” DEUTERONOMY 34:4
The reading I listed above (and I hope you'll read it!) is the last chapter of the book of Deuteronomy. It also marks the end of the story of the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to the Promised Land. Under Moses’ leadership, the Israelites have traveled through the desert, enduring hunger and thirst, on God’s timetable—the journey took forty years!
