Lyrics to song for the Grads
Artist - Scott Miller and the Commonwealth
"May your back be straight and your fingers ten
May your cup be full when you say when
And may your parents be so that they always let you grow
And may your heart be so pure, it's one that God wants to know
May your schooling be good and if it's not
May the times be easy and you still smart
And may your friendships be so that they almost feel like home
And may your heart be so pure, it's one that God wants to know
And if you have the joy of passing something on
Like the laugh of your father or the courage of your mom
But if that never happens and you end up alone
May your heart be so pure, it's one that God wants to know
May your heart be so pure, it's one that God wants to know"
Horses, Humans, and Healing by John Paul Carter
“Everything about California Chrome (the horse that recently won the Kentucky Derby) has been very bad business,” writes sport columnist Dick Jeradi, “and proof that good business can be overrated.” The now-celebrated colt has unremarkable blood-lines, is trained by a 77-year-old horseman with no previous Derby experience, and co-owned by a plain-spoken old man with a dream, wearing a sweat-stained Stetson. If you love horse stories, it doesn’t get much better than that!
Strangers in the Night
by Shannon Moore
Now there was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night… JOHN 3:1,2
Throughout the gospels, it’s pretty clear that the Pharisees were not exactly Jesus fans. He pushed their buttons, often contradicted their teachings, and had the ability to make lots of people follow him around and listen to what he had to say. That can be pretty scary for religious leaders.
The children at Central have inspired me to provide a Pet Blessing for all of our beloved pets of all shapes and sizes. So on Wednesday night, May 28th @ 6:30, we will gather with all of our pet family in the court yard for our very first pet blessing. This is for anyone who has a beloved pet. We just ask that all pets remain on a leash or in a carrier and an adult accompanies the pet. We will see you there!
“Where two or three are gathered in my name,
I am there among them.”
We tend to associate this quote with worship; people congregating in Jesus’ name to offer our praise and thanksgiving to God.
