THE CHRISTMAS GIFT PROJECT
The Christmas Project this past December was to raise $25,000 to build anaddition to a home of a family of five who is taking in three young girls. An additional 800 square feet is needed to give adequate space to raise these kids in crisis.
This project is a perfect example of the Church at work as it wasdesigned by Christ: We have a family who, undoubtedly, are responding to God by being a solution to a tremendous need. Though they have NOT asked for financial help, those who are close to the situation have seen and responded to their need of space in a compassionate manner. Not many of us have the gifts to take in children in need, but all of us can help those who can. Both roles are needed for a ministry to be successful.
A New Possibility in Haiti
I have been invited to Haiti to see about a possible ministry. A church group in Haiti has asked us to consider partnering with them in building an orphanage. This Christ-based orphanage would give hope for a small portion of the thousands of homeless kids still running the streets in one of the world’s most devastating countries. Melisa Ashford Simmons and I will be boarding a plane on Monday, February 3rd and return early Saturday morning February 8th to see if this is a ministry where God needs us. Please keep us in your thoughts and pray for wisdom and discernment as we go into uncharted territory!
