A New Ministry Is Beginning!

Central Christian Church is partnering with Hall Middle School in a ministry called, “Roo Pouch of Love.” We will assist the teachers with making weekend “pouches” of food for some the children to take home on Friday. Currently there are 20 students identified with a need for food on the weekends. The partnership is simple, CCC collects the food identified by Hall Middle School, Hall identifies the students, sorts out the food, and distributes the food on Friday.

The “Sharing Your Faith Team” is looking to put together a team of people who would like to participate in this ministry. There are three areas of need:

1 – People to organize food collections from the congregation on specific food items,

2 – People to collect food once a month at the Tarrant County Food Bank using the church van,

3 – People to transfer all the food to Hall Middle School once a month or when needed. Jack and Rusty Pickard are the people to contact or Robert Goodrich on staff. Great ministry; low time commitment…and feed the kids!

Souper Bowl of Caring

On Super Bowl Sunday, February 1, please support Souper Bowl of Caring by giving your change, dollars & canned food on Sunday, February 1 for the local food pantry, Manna Storehouse.  

The children will be in the narthex of the sanctuary ready to take your donations. Thank you!

I’ve been a member of Central Christian Church much longer than any other congregation I’ve ever belonged to – almost 19 years. So every day, I’m plowing new ground.

In the process, I’m realizing that when we remain in the same place over a long period of time – whether it’s a community, a workplace, or a church – we encounter some rather unique experiences that we must learn to cope with. Chief among them is change.

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.  ECCLESIASTES 3:1

The theme that runs through the book of Ecclesiastes is this:  It doesn’t matter if we’re rich or poor, if we’re popular or not.  No matter how much we accumulate, we are all going to die and the people who come after us will take possession of our stuff. Eventually there will be nobody left who remembers us when we were alive.  Happy New Year!

But there’s no need to despair.  Even when it doesn’t seem like it, the balance of positive and negative experiences in life is a gift from God.  God has given us our lives to live.  We can work, make plans, and set goals, but ultimately, God holds the cards.  And that is a good thing!

Ecclesiastes reminds us that we should strive to be content in the time that is given to us. Even in the midst of strife and trouble, we are able to look forward to the end of strife and trouble—because without them, we can’t appreciate the good times..

Every day is a new beginning; a gift from God.  Every day gives new opportunities to spend time with God in prayer and meditation to try to find out who we are now and who God wants us to be.

The time is now.
